Private Cemetery. Ask permission before visiting. In a paddock at Willeroo Station stands Cooper's Vault, a remarkable structure. It consists of an external passageway spanning 9 meters, leading to an underground chamber through an arched entrance. The chamber, estimated to be approximately 6 meters by 4 meters, has been bricked up. Above the vault, there is a brick pyramidal structure with a base measuring 3.2 meters by 3.6 meters. Its height ranges from 5 to 6 meters, and the bricks composing the pyramid are smaller than those forming the base. Cooper's Vault was erected to commemorate the tragic passing of a twelve-year-old son from the Cooper family. The prominent feature of the structure is the large pyramid atop the vault, which showcases a rendered point crowned by a cement urn. An inscription adorns the pyramid's top, bearing the words: "In memory of Francis Cooper, born Willeroo Lake George, Feb 1856, died at Sydney, Oct 1868." This vault holds historical significance as one of the older well-preserved religious relics in the area, predating St Matthias' Church. However, it remains uncertain whether the boy's body was interred within the vault.
