There is a grave near the homestead of James Stewart of Foss Perthshire Scotland. Apparently he was a grazier born c1828 as he died Buchan 6 Dec 1881 at Buchan aged 53. It is thought that he was a son of Joseph Stewart of Inverness Scotland. The Gothic headstone was made from marble and substantial. It was manufactured by Marshall Grout and Company of Melbourne. The inscription reads "Erected in loving memory of James Stewart from Foss, Perthshire, who died at Buchan, Australia, 6 December 1881 - Aged 53 years". The grave is situated on a small flat, benched area on the hillside, about 24 metres south-west of a small gully line. The gothic headstone is broken in 4 pieces and lying in thick grass. It is made of marble with lead inset lettering, and was manufactured by Marsh Grout & Co, Melbourne. The original plinth can be seen, in situ. When standing, the headstone was 1.55 metres tall, and used to be very visible. The inscription reads "Erected in loving memory of James Stewart from Foss, Perthshire, who died at Buchan, Australia, 6 December 1881 - Aged 53 years". The grave is situated on a grassy hillside above Sunny Point homestead, about 60 metres north of the old Gillingall Road (Sunny Point Track), and an old shanty site which shows as a flat area on the south side of the track, on the crown of the spur. The site commands spectacular views over the homestead and the Buchan River valley. The hillside is grazed by cattle. Local information has it that James Stewart was a shanty proprietor on the old Gillingall Road, who asphyxiated after drinking a batch of his own powerful brew. James was 53 years old when he died on 6 Dec 1881. He was the son of Joseph Stewart, of Inverness-shire Scotland. Stewart was listed as a grazier on death certificate. Private Cemetery.
