Beschreibung

I've been doing all the landscaping here for a couple of years now and it's been very overwhelming. The cemetery was very badly overgrown and I thought it was being tended to. It was so bad you couldn't see anything or even know it was a cemetery. I live in Florida and maintain it when I visit. I have plans to level off the ground and fix broken and knocked over headstones. I will never let my ancesters be forgotten and I will do whatever it takes to get the information out to make sure they are there and need to be taken care of. If you would like to visit, park in front of the church and behind the longer building is a path leading up the hill and the cemetery is located about 50 yards in the middle of the woods. The old road that wraps around the cemetery is now restored. This road was used during the horse and carriage days. Below are just a few before and after pics of my work. This is my families private cemetery located behind the Bible Baptist Church located at 151 Bert Rd and no one there does the upkeep for it. I have worked hard to restore it since visiting back in Jan 2013 and I will continue to maintain it as much as I can from Florida to see that my family is never forgotten. I believe this cemetery was started by the Pinson Family due to the property once belonging to them and was known as the Pinson Plantation. Everyone in this cemetery are related through blood or marriage. The church was moved to this location back in 1969 from Five Points. Surnames are: Akridge, Doziers, Johnson, Johnston, Kinnebrew, Nixon, and Ward's. I am a little overwhelmed but I'm up for the challenge. Anyone who would like to help I would welcome with open arms. I have a plan in place to level off the ground due to coffins collapsing and tombstones falling over. I have a plan to remove all trees because we all know they pose a threat if any of them fall over onto a tombstone and have used a stump grinder recently to make sure the wild Georgia brush doesn't grow back. Anyone who lives in GA knows what a battle it is to control it. I have restored the dirt road that wraps around the cemetery and I believe was once used back in the buggy and carriage days. I have gotten permission from the pastor at the church to remove the brush and trees behind the church so that the cemetery is exposed and seen from the road (Bert) to prevent people from going back there to dump trash, vandalize, and hang out to do God knows what. Right now there is a dirt road at the address of 91 Dempsey Rd that provides access to the cemetery but once my bank acct gives me permission, my intentions are to put in a road that you can access from the left side of the church and the pastor has also gave me permission for that too. It just makes sense and you can either drive around the cemetery then or park at the church to visit. I have repaired several broken tombstones that have been broken due to vandalism. Once the ground is dry enough, Mr. Lindsey from Lindsey monuments will quote me on the bigger ones to level off and erect again. I can't wait. Please feel free to contact me through here and I always welcome anyone who wants to help me do the upkeep. The neighbors keep an eye on the cemetery now which is very nice I will soon install trail camera's to catch these punks that think it's funny to break and desecrate my families remains while the R.I.P. Thanks for any help or suggestions on the restoration as I attempt to restore it to it's natural state. This cemetery has also been called Kinnebrew-Ward Cemetery but I call it this because everyone here are related and family. Thanks for reading my rant. There are more pics on the Kinnebrew-Ward Cemetery page because it was up first and I even provided some panoramic views to appreciate it even more. ~Jay Brown
