Epitaph

In German, across the bottom of the headstone it reads, "RUHE SANFT" or "Rest Gently"

Description

The headstone is located in the Wildwood Cemetery, about 1/2 mile west of the city of Salem, SD. One of two headstones situated within a very ornate iron fence, one of a kind and the only one like this in the whole cemetery. You can find these on the north central side of the cemetery. There is an old fashioned water pump near by to help water the plants that are in and around the gravesites. Also, there is the word "VATER" across the top of this headstone. Translated from German, it means, "Father". There is a large stone located between Wilhelm and Maria and it is in German, and I haven't had it translated yet. I will link the picture.
