Beschreibung

This cemetery is abandoned and inside the wooded area. In the 1890s the old church was torn down and the new church built a tad down the road. There is no address, but it is just off Snider Lane on private property. Please note the zipcode returns Purcellville but the area is actually Neersville. Helpful information from a Find-A-Grave user: There is often much confusion over the "Ebenezer Cemetery", as there are several in Loudoun County. This cemetery is known as the "Ebenezer ME Cemetery" in Neersville. Another Ebenezer Cemetery is the present day "Ebenezer UMC Cemetery" a half mile to the North-West. The third is the "Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery" in Bluemont and is on the opposite side of Loudoun County. The latter two Ebenezer Cemeteries are also located on FAG; see their listings for more information. Driving Directions: The primary road in the area is US Rt-340 which runs between Charles Town/Harpers Ferry WV and Frederick MD. If travelling from Frederick, take US Rt-340 WEST. After about 16 miles you will cross the Potomac River into Virginia. 1/4 of a mile (or less) after crossing the bridge there will be a stop light. Turn LEFT at the light ... this is Harpers Ferry Road/VA-671. If travelling from Charles Town or Harpers Ferry, follow US Rt-340 EAST. After you cross the Shenandoah River into Virginia, there will be a stop light after about 1 mile. Turn RIGHT on to Harpers Ferry Road/VA-671. Once on Harpers Ferry Road you will travel about three miles and will pass the present day United Methodist Church and cemetery. About a half mile past the church you will see Snider Lane on the left, turn here. The road isn't paved, until you get about a quarter mile in. When the road becomes paved, it is private property. From this point on, proceed at your own risk. Continue onto the paved section and you'll pass a house on the left. Watch for a large wooden children's climbing toy and play fort to your LEFT. The cemetery is just inside the woods to your RIGHT. There is really noplace "public" to park. Just past the home the road turns back to dirt, but there is a place you can park to the left at this point (you're still on private property). Getting into the woods is rather difficult and involves crossing a barbed wire fence. IMPORTANT NOTE: Purcellville is the Post Office which serves that area. The PHYSICAL location of this cemetery is Neersville (which does not have a post office).
