Located on the south side of the cathedral, In 2012, in compliance of Canon Law, the Cathedral of St. Mary installed a Columbarium on the south side of the Cathedral. The Columbarium at the Cathedral of St. Mary provides a place of rest and beauty for the ashes (cremains) of our Catholic Family in the Diocese of Cheyenne. Wrought iron fencing, repurposed from the St. Mary’s Convent, creates a separation between the columbarium and the parking lot. The three columns honor the Holy Trinity and scene at Calvary in its symbolic structure. It allows priests and the faithful to be interred within the confines of the shadow of the Diocesan Cathedral that honors the Holy Mother. This columbarium is located on the grounds of the cathedral.
